ANNUAL GIVING MANAGER

The Maryland Science Center seeks and experienced Annual Giving manager to play a key role in the Annual Giving Program. The Annual Giving Manager's primary responsibility is the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive annual giving program, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of development services and donor relations. The primary duties include administration and overseeing of multiple direct mail projects, gift reporting, prospect identification, cultivation, acknowledgement and tracking, solicitation and donor recognition, as well as statistical reporting and analysis, mailing list management, and donor/prospect research. Position requires excellent organization skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands, and an advance ed working knowledge of Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge for Windows. Bachelor's degree required with at least three to five years of experience in annual fund, direct mail and managing a complex database. EDUCATION SPECIALIST/SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Duties include developing new programming concepts and programs; training Camp MSC staff and assisting with Camp MSC functions; maintaining supplies, equipment, and teaching spaces; research, investigate, and obtain sources of sponsorship funding; performing animal care and maintenance. MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Full time position for skilled maintenance person to assist the Maintenance/Engineering Manager in assuring that the building and surrounding areas are in optimum operating efficiency to provide a pleasant appearance and safe environment for our staff and visitors. Performs work orders on a timely basis; fixes, replaces or repairs items that may be broken, damaged or in marginal condition; responds to emergency situations as they arise, including ice and snow removal. Position requires a minimum HS diploma or equivalent with technical/trade school training a plus and 3-5 years of general building maintenance. The successful candidate will have to ability to work unsupervised and around crowds; have good communication skills and a friendly and helpful attitude. Knowledge of the basic techniques of electricity, carpentry and HVAC necessary. Position also requires good manual dexterity skills and the ability to lift and carry heavy objects. Candidate must pass an extensive background investigation. Must be available to work a rotating schedule. SENIOR PUBLIC PROGRAMMER

Outstanding opportunity for an informal educator to present programming for visiting school groups, HomeBecome a part of the excitement that is the Maryland Science Center by presenting interactive presentations on the exhibit floors as well as the demonstration stage. Present scheduled demonstrations, “explainers” (informal and non-scheduled demos), and other exciting and engaging informal education programs for visitors of all ages to the museum and for museum functions. This position will also assist with the operation and supervision of the early childhood learning area as well as in the planning, coordination and operation of programming for special events both on-and off-site. This entry-level full-time, benefited position requires a minimum AA degree with a concentration in science, teaching, communications or museum education with a BS degree preferred and 1-2 years teaching, presenting to the public or other related museum education experience. OUTREACH SPECIALIST

Requires college degree; some teaching, theater, or museum educational experience; knowledge of Microsoft EXCEL; valid MD driver's license, good driving record; and the ability to lift approximately 60 lbs. Must be available Monday through Friday and be comfortable in front of an audience. $24,000 with full benefits. IMAX THEATER USHER
Demonstrate excellent customer service to all guests and staff; assist guests entering and exiting the theater; maintain cleanliness of the theater; cross-train into different areas; take tickets; make announcements as necessary. Requires HS diploma or equivalent; excellent customer service, communication skills and interpersonal skills; composure in front of an audience and the ability to work scheduled hours. Schedule includes nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.

KIDS ROOM STAFF
Work with school groups and visitors to assist in their use of the Kids Room; conduct activities to enhance the experience provided by the exhibits; support the daily operation of the space. Requires HS diploma with at least 1 year progress toward undergraduate degree; experience with young children under the age of 8 and matching expectations to their development in a group setting. Must be able to work weekends. Flexible schedules. Ideal for Early Childhood majors. $8.50 per hour. Do you love Space? Obsessed with weather? Join the SpaceLink and TerraLink exhibit staff for a unique opportunity to learn and talk about the latest happenings in science. Must be able to operate computer interactives, video players and other electronic devices; have excellent verbal communication skills; and the ability to work in a team environment. Must enjoy working directly with the general public, especially with children. A high school diploma is required.
