Friday Night Stargazing in the Observatory
Every Friday: 7:00-10:30pm (weather permitting)
Venture out to our urban rooftop Observatory to see the planet Jupiter, including cloud bands in Jupiter's atmosphere. Also observe the four brightest moons of Jupiter. The Observatory is open every Friday night, weather permitting. Stargazing is free and open to the public, admission to the Science Center is not required. Please phone 410.545.2999 before your visit to check on viewing conditions.

Saturdays: 1-4pm (weather permitting) Safely look at the Sun and its features–such as sunspots and prominences–through a special set of filters on our telescope. The Observatory is open to museum visitors every Saturday, weather permitting, and admission is included in general Science Center admission. Tiny Tinkerers
Thursday (June 6, 13, 20, 27) at 10:00am An exciting exploration time designed for younger children and their adult caregivers. Enjoy the Kids Room’s Discovery Space completely field trip free until 11:00 AM. Come discover basic science concepts and help reinforce newly developed skills as you and your little one travel through a variety of fun investigation stations in the Learning Lab.

Advanced Studio Hours: June 1st and 2nd from Noon-4:00pmScience Studio is a place where guests can make, design, and play. Each time in Science Studio we will feature a different maker project. In advanced studio, we will put art in motion as we learn about flip book animation, and watch a zoetrope in action. Located on Level 3; free with paid admission and free for members.

Saturday, June 15; Noon-4:00pmCelebrate the Sun and the Van Allen Probes mission exploring Earth’s radiation belts to help us better understand the Sun-Earth connection. Scientists from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab will be on hand to help explore how the Sun and plasma influence the planet and our day-to-day life.

Thing-a-ma-jigs are engineering challenges where MSC staffers define the task, provide parts, and let you design the contraption that solves the problem.
