CARSON

Citizens and Remote Sensing Observational Network
NASA and the Maryland Science Center are developing a central network of citizen scientists to share and communicate data. CARSON consists of individuals, environmental groups, and science-focused institutions such as museums and nature centers—anyone who is interested in environmental observations.
Helping to understand the world around us
Those who participate in the CARSON project will be making important observations of their local environment based on their personal interest. In many cases, these observations may be helpful in improving their community and quality of life. The network also gives citizen scientists a place to share and discuss their observations and ideas.
CARSON Network Highlights
- Access detailed methods for data collection and analysis
- Access NASA Earth data online via Giovanni and NEO
- Upload your own observations. Participants may also share their observations with scientists to help address specific scientific questions, as outlined in each chapter of the CARSON guide
- Meet with other citizen scientists and professionals for networking and support. Participants may attend monthly network meetings to share ideas, hear speakers, etc.
- Make scientific discoveries of your own
Get Involved
