NOW PLAYING!

John Harlin III has been haunted by the Eiger, by its mythic allure and its deadly nature, since the day his father died when he was just nine years old.

Now, Harlin will face his inner demons and honor his father's memory on a climb that is about so much more than simply a physical achievement. For Harlin, the expedition is also about following his father's footsteps by exploring why his father came to love the Alps and its culture and giving that knowledge to his own young daughter. Join Harlin as he climbs the storied North Face of the Eiger, one of the most celebrated peaks, but also one notorious among climbers for the unpredictable weather changes and the deadly shower of falling rock.

Harlin is joined by two of the most accomplished climbers in modern Alpinism, Robert and Daniela Jasper in his attempt on the Eiger. Robert Jasper has successfully climbed the Eiger 15 times, and Daniela three times.

With awe inspiring imagery, The Alps captures the beauty, danger and human lure of the high mountain peaks of Switzerland. They are such risky and challenging locales that sending IMAX cameras into these rarified realms required recruiting a team of cinematographers who possessed a unique combo of courage, creativity and climbing skills all their own.

The film is accompanied by the music of Queen, in collaboration with Award-winning composer Steve Wood which incorporates mystical orchestral sound, to evoke the spiritual realm of the film's themes.
